The regular weight is slightly thinner than other sans-serif fonts, moreover the diacritics and small glyphs were designed for small sizes by taller and more open forms.

There’s something satisfying about tweaking to perfection a typeface based on the particular style of lettering applied to a particular kind of paper by a particular human hand.
One day, in pursuit of this curious sense of satisfaction, I sat down with a porous pad of lined note paper and printed out the alphabet with a ballpoint pen.
I found particularly interesting the bulbous ends of the strokes where the ink soaked in. More…

A blackletter font tending towards the gothic which was released by Klingspor, Offenbach am Main, in 1937.
Claudius can be used for clerical as well as for secular purposes and shows a strong character of its own. The original esthetic atrocities of placing the dieresis within the letters A and O - due to former German industry standards - were abolished. Allow the font’s beauty spread by giving it enough leading between the lines. This font contains various useful ligatures, and by activating the Discretionary Ligatures feature and typing ‘N’, ‘r’ and period you get an oldstyle numbersign.

It can be used as an interesting workhorse in small text sizes. It makes eye-catching headlines in big display sizes.
